Time is but a reflection of motion

Every time you think something like "It takes too long" or "We can do that faster", you are thinking about time.

It would be meaningless, however, to simply ask people to speed up their work: they would just become more confused, and there would be no time saved, especially in the long term.

When we say that a task takes too long, what we really mean is that certain motions take too long to perform, so complaining only about their duration is pointless: the real culprit is the structure of the motions themselves, which is what makes them take so long.

This is true in production, but also in engineering and in more administrative operations. If you want to be faster and save time and money, you have to restructure and clearly define how the task is performed and where parts and information are, and always think about how all distances (virtual and physical) and motions can be reduced.

Shouting at people to run faster doesn't solve the real root cause!
